May 2024:
The magazine Hana to Yume began its publication as a monthly magazine in May 1974, so this year it's its 50th anniversary!
As we know, good part of "Glass no Kamen" was serialized in this magazine.
So Suzue Miuchi herself among other artists wrote a few words to congratulate on this important milestone.
In her comment, she remembers when "Glass no Kamen" stated being serialized in 1975 and how she also worked hard on the play "Kurenai Tennyo", even though not all of it was incorporated in the manga.
Once again, Suzue Miuchi sensei said that she wants to work hard and finish the manga.

Wowowowowowow!!!!
"Bessatsu Hana to Yume" published by Hakusensha Comic (500 yen): "You will be able to read the continuation of the 42nd volume of Hakusensha Comic !!"
Anyway, please read carefully... Following is my Japanese friend Shion's comment.
10 years ago, yes it was in 1998, "Garasu no kamen" was broadcasted as a TV drama. At the same time, "Hana to Yume" serialized half the 41st volume for 5 months, in commemoration of the TV drama. But some parts of the 41st volume were changed when it was put on sale.
This time the extra number of Hana to Yume this time is also a commemoration of the musical in August. We think the new pages release of this time is just for the musical. We know nothing about the 43rd volume now.

It's on sale the weekly magazine "Josei Jishin", including a 7-page long interview to Suzue Miuchi sensei!
The divine Enju, Italian in Japan, read the magazine and commented it for us. I'm going to summarize and translate what she wrote into English. Many many thanks to her and Rosi-chan! About volume 43: Miuchi sensei is writing the continuation of volume 42 right now; she doesn't know yet if it will be published monthly or in a unique tankoubon, but it shouldn't take too long to finish it.
The story is in general similar to the Hana to Yume version [UH?], though some episodes which are not too interesting have ben cut out and new ones have been added.
Talking about 'The two queens', Suzue Miuchi explained why this play covered such a big part of the manga: it's a story that at the beginning she wanted to write separately and that later she included in Garasu no Kamen. The inspiration for the plot came after reading a book about Elizabet I and Mary Stuart.
The biggest part of the article is about Suzue Miuchi's life, starting from her childhood and her well-known passion for manga. Old and new events which occurred are described, including some very popular anecdotes.
Finally, the sensei tells us her version of the story of an old fan who died without reading the end of the manga.
One day, she received a letter from a 30-year old woman, fan of hers. In the letter, the woman says that her grandmother, also a big fan of Garasu no Kamen, was going to die in a very short time. The sensei felt sorry for the old lady who wouldn't be able to read the ending of the manga and she sent her a shikishi (artboard). It seems that it arrived on time. What was written and/or drawn on that artboard hasn't been revealed in the interview!
At the end, Suzue Miuchi admits feeling sorry when she thinks she has to finish Garasu no Kamen, because after that she would no longer draw the characters who occupied such a big part of her life! [*_*] -

The first day of the Noh play (with an appearance of Suzue Miuchi sensei!) is scheduled to be on-air by NHK News 10 - starting at 10 p.m. It was not broadcasted on February 24th because of the big news from the Olympic Games in Torino: the talented and beautiful Shizuka Arakawa won the golden medal for figure ice skating! Congratulations!
By the way, the main points of the introduction to Kurenai Tennyo are:
- It was difficult to harmonize the manga with the traditional things.
- In this play, to understand what the actors say is easier than usual. (Basically, it's hard to catch the lines even for natives.)
- The environmental issues are also included in the play as in manga.
- Although they experimented several new things, the play culminates with the traditional Noh dance.

January 18th 2006:
WOW! Please read the Happy New Year message which Suzue Miuchi sensei in person wrote to her fans in her official website.
I translated into English the Italian translation by my precious Enju. Enjoy!
Happy new year everyone!
Finally I have managed to appear in this corner!
The things I would like to talk about are so many (too many!) that I couldn't write them all. Moreover, I am not used to computers, I've finally learnt to use the keyboard 6 months ago, but since I made too many mistakes and I couldn't build a home page as I wished, I made you wait for a long time: sorry!
Since my homepage was online, I have been receiving many warm letters from you.
They encouraged me, they make me laugh, they made me feel a little guilty, they made me worry, and then I myself had fun with you as friends.
I read all your emails, thank you.
In praticular, I am very touched by the enthusiasm of affectionate readers of Garasu no Kamen. I have never thought I would stop writing it. I will go on writing it and doing my best, so please go on following it.
Now, I have been packed in a hotel room in Tokyo since December 19th, working at volume 43. (actually I sneaked off to my study where I am typing this message from. I hope the editor of Hakusensha will never happen to read this page...!).
After taking the change and stuff to consult, I HAVE TO get back to the hotel.
It's 5 a.m. and I am going to take the first train.
See you soon!
I wish you a year full of happiness from the bottom of my heart!
Suzue Miuchi

The report of the trip is in Miuchi sensei's official site.
From a comment by Suzue Miuchi (thanks to Shion):
Yoshino can be said the place where Kurenai Tennyo was born.
Although it was slightly late season, the late-blooming plum showed:
we were so moved and touched. We, all members of this travel including me,
felt such a refreshing mood that we felt the soul of sacred Yoshino.
And I am convinced that this experience will bring us a good result in the Noh stage in February, next year. -
